This is really cool! I've never heard something quite like this before. I especially like that clap and the 8-bit lead (especially those chords after the halfway mark). However, I think that the 3rd chord in the progression should be (in some places) just a straight up major chord (as opposed to a major 7th chord).

But damn, this is good.

durn responds:

Thanks TKG. :) You're right about those chords, I'm too lazy to go back and fix now though. ;)

d(>_<)b

It's a great beat, reminds me a bit of Daft Punk.

So I'm just rocking along, and it "trips"! I LOVE TRIPS!!! And then it was all like "woah!" at 1:39, and reminded me of Ladytron a bit. Sad that it slowed down at the end though.

This is mad as, man, I need more.

WonkerKot responds:

Cool guys! thanks, yeah I guess I didn't really let it build up to its full potential. cut it a little short. I'll re-up a better, full one later on!! peace!

Tight!

OMG SELF-BUILT LEADS!!! Dude, this is THE BEST!!! How did you make the leads though?

Some good dubstep you got going on there though, damn this is so cool.

Jimmypig responds:

Thanks for the review, sorry for the lateness!

I used massive to make the leads, quality program.

Toto - Africa

Is a song I'm into right now. This reminds me of it a bit at about 0:30. This is really really good! It has a really good African/plainzy feel and everything, nice amount of variation, everything ties in together well. It's nice how it turned out, it would sound great in a game. (What kind of game was it going to be?)

The guitar and the drums sounded really nice, was that a VST? What program did you use?

Step responds:

Thanks! All of the sounds and VST's I used are mentioned in the description. The plucked (nylon-string) guitar was from Hypersonic 2 (it's a VST which has a massive library of synthesized sounds) and the rhythm (steel-string) guitar is from Virtual Guitarist 2 (it's a VST which has preset rhythms of guitars). The percussive sounds except the ambient ones which can be heard mostly in the piano solo are from Stormdrum.

And the game was going to be a large RPG game which would have a number of different 'worlds'. Each world would be themed differently. For example, one of the worlds'd be an evil world, another an ice world, another a futuristic world, etc... the aim being to finish each world to move on to the next. We had to make a soundtrack for each of these themed worlds with a different style for each (techno-y for the futuristic world, evil-sounding for the evil world, cold and icy for the ice world, etc...), along with a game-over theme, menu theme, boss theme for each world, and so on. There were like ten worlds or so, and in all we were asked to make a total of like 20-30 different background songs :P.

Was a tough job but we were definitely up to it. Too bad we lost contact with the artist for some reason and only got two songs done, this one and a game-over theme :(.

Anyway, really glad you like this song, and thanks again :).

Nice!

Cool idea, and it works too! A few tips though:

1. Everything needs a bit more 'oomf', especially the lower guitars.
2. With the lead guitar, it does sound a bit techno, which is cool, but probably stick to either guitar-sounding or techno-sounding, not both.
3. There's something about the drums that I can't quite put my finger on...

But yea, this is really good stuff, keep it up!

Thanks for the review... but it's the Garageband instruments you must be complaining about hahaha.

I love music to bits and on occassion, art. I also have this amazing story idea, and as I write it I plan to document in all possible aesthetic forms.
